Good for beginners Webhosting blogger?

Blogspot.com I've been using for about five or six months. I have been following my progress, and I would say that I have confidence to take my blog to a new level. I recently registered a new domain name with godaddy.com and have been looking for a web hosting site. I've been reading many comments and criticisms made on the web on various different web servers and has been dominant. I want to find a good host in which incidentally can be published, design and have fun with my little project, and hopefully one day will become serious. I do not want to pay a large start up fee or commit to a 1-year plan and discover that the host is not what I expected. I wonder if people could give me some tips and / or references of a blogger begginner.
